Laelia duveenii

Habitat: Brazil. Laelia duveenii is found growing near Serra do Cipo in Diamantina. Rupicolous.

Plant Size: Small. The compact pseudobulbs of Laelia duveenii grow 3.5 cm tall and have a single 4-7 cm long leaf. Foliage is dark green with a reddish flush. The flower stalk grows 5-7 cm above the foliage.

Flower Description: The flower of Laelia duveenii is fragrant unlike most other rupicolous Laelia species. Color is rosy lilac pink with a beautiful white throat. Flower texture is crystaline and the flowers glisten in good light. There are 2 to 4 flowers per flower spike.

Growing Temperature: Cool, Intermediate

Additional Information: Laelia duveenii is a recent discovery from Brazil and will become more popular with time due to its compact habit and beautiful flowers. Grow in an inorganic potting media just like other rupicolous laelias.
